Day 7 and the stage is rapidly building up. To my dismay Daddy told me that as a week had gone by it was about time that I got the duster out to give it a good clean.

So here I am dusting away on the stairs. What a task master my Dad is. Does anybody have the number for Social Services?

Daddy said that we had to clean up because we had friends coming to dinner on Sunday. So together we spent the day Spring cleaning and even put up all of the Christmas decorations. Daddy also laid the table with Christmas crackers to boot. In the meantime mummy went shopping to buy the beef. Everything was ready for a good old bash with our friends.
Unfortunately, we hadn’t anticipated the power cut at 2.30 in the morning.  Electricity wasn’t restored until teatime and so we had to take all of the food to Linda and Ralf’s house and cook the meal there. We still had a lovely time and at least we didn’t have to do any washing up.Â

As you know today is the first day of advent and to help me mark off the days leading up to Christmas mummy bought me a playmobil advent calendar.

The idea is that each day I have to find the box marked 1, 2, 3 and so on right up to Christmas Day. Each box contains a surprise. Sadly, so I’m led to believe, non of the boxes contain any chocolate. Today I opened box 1 which had a tiny little table in it. I had to place the table on the miniature scene at the bottom. Tomorrow I’ll get to open the second box. Can’t wait. I’ll keep you informed every few days so you can see how the scene is building up.
Speaking of which, it’s about time I kept you up to date with our building work. Here are a few more pictures of the project.

Unfortunately, having got this far and ready to start laying blocks, the friendly building inspector, bless him, politely instructed us to lay new pipes which meant having to partly dig up what we’d already done. David wasn’t best pleased.

Still, after that little set back we layed the concrete floor and moved the blocks in en masse. I say ‘we’ but to be honest I haven’t contributed all that much yet.

The next thing I knew World War III had broken out between us and the neighbours and trench warfare was called for. In actual fact it turned out that Charlie had to dig up the garden to lay new water pipes. I don’t think that there’s going to be much left of my garden by the time they’ve finished.
It’s starting to take shape now though and I can just about visualise how it’s going to look.Â

Indeed, to quote the title of that great Yazz and the Plastic Population hit, ‘The Only Way Is Up’.

Doesn’t time fly? It hardly seems like yesterday when I made my first entrance into the world and now look at me, 3 years old and celebrating with my lovely family and friends.Â
One of my favourite films is Toy Story and I really wanted an RC with Woody and Buzz Lightyear. I wasn’t let down. It is a remote control car which I love zooming around the house.

In the afternoon we headed for the bowling lanes and met up with Taylor, Lydia and Eleanor as well as a few other hanger ons. It wasn’t long before I was demonstrating my bowling skills and on my 2nd go scored a STRIKE.

After bowling we cut the cake and boy what a cake. I don’t know if you’re familiar with the Numberjacks on CBeebees but mummy baked me Numberjack 3. It was great.

I stood on a chair to get a better picture of it. Well done Mummy.

I had lots of other exciting presents including an Iggle Piggle, an Iggle Piggle scooter, sticker Christmas story book, mega bloks, Bob the Builder Skip, a police uniform, Tractor and manure spreader, a hideaway tent, Charlie and Lola plate mats and much more besides for which I thank everyone very much.
Sadly, the weekend was also tinged with sadness because it was the last time that we’ll see Nic and Jon before they travel to Nepal in January.Â

We are going to miss them so much over the next 2 years or so but I’ll keep you posted on how they are doing. We’ve brought Skype and a VideoCam to help us stay in touch.

We had a lovely weekend with Nic and Jon and I even managed to get them to stop eating for a few moments to take me out for a nice walk to test my scooter out.

I love you loads. Good luck. Isaac.

“Isaac, have you seen my mallet? I left it on the table, you haven’t picked it up have you? Isaac. Where are you?”
“Isaac? What have you done?”

“I’m sorry Daddy, I didn’t do it on purpose. Don’t be angry but have you seen the kitchen yet?”

Oh well, the damage had been done, so I decided to muck in myself and rip out the door step. It was quite fun so I called a couple of my mates, Charlie and David, who joined in.

It is amazing what you find when you dig a few holes and knock down the odd wall. What do you know, a World War II jeep.

It had finally gone. That horrible, dirty, moldy thing that the estate agent had the audacity to call a conservatory had finally gone. So what next? There was only one thing to do … call in the boss.

Thus endeth week 1.

Yes dear reader, you’ve guessed what you’re in for over the next few months. The long awaited extension to our house has begun. As excited as we are, we will endeavour not to bore you too much and just post the occasional updates as the project progresses. I won’t tell you just yet what we have planned but you’re gonna like it, not a lot, but you’re gonna like it (help me, I’ve just quoted Paul Daniels).

The other day Isaac and I went for a walk around Lenwade lakes as it was such a beautiful October afternoon.  I was particularly taken by this fantastic reflection across the fishing lake at The Bridge Pub.Â

Down by the river an angler was wading in the water

I managed to capture a couple of really interesting shots using the sun’s reflection

Â

Not everyone was happy though.
