For the past few months the fishing lakes next to Marriotts Way in our village have been redeveloped which has involved cutting down and burning the dead wood and digging out the slurry that has gathered over the years at the bottom of the existing lake. All was going well until one of the diggers got a little too confident.

The diggers friends stood around laughing and watching in astonishment until one of them thought it might be a good idea if they tried to pull him out.

Only it wasn’t quite so easy as that. I don’t know whether they ever managed to pull the digger out. Presumably they did. However, if the digger is still sitting there at the bottom of the lake I would love to see the face of the fisherman in a few years time who thinks he’s caught a hump back whale.

You may recall that last April I went on a protest to oppose the building of a smelly rendering plant just outside of my village (see ‘No Stink’ – April 2007). Well last week the hearing finally came to chambers at Norfolk County Council so Daddy and I, together with about 70 other villagers jumped on a bus and headed to the hearing. After 3 tediously boring hours of listening to technical arguments from both sides, the vote was taken whether to approve planning permission for the stink farm.
Â
We filled the gallery and many more people listened to proceedings from the adjoining room. Then eventually the verdict came in – 9 votes against and just 4 for. Victory.

There were many smiles and a lot of relief when the result was announced. Power to the People.
The result means that Banham Compost have to reapply for permission with more stringent environmental safeguards. No doubt we’ll have to fight it all over again at some point. And fight we will because I don’t want no stink farm in my back yard. Speaking of which, when I came home from County Hall I found our kitchen sitting in the back yard. How odd!
Â
A couple more pictures for you. Mummy in her new bedroom.

The view from our new Velux bedroom window. What a bonus.

It’s not looking so pretty downstairs where Peter, David and Daddy apparently have been ripping out the kitchen and bathroom.

The more observant members of my readership may have noticed that recently The Bathtime Blog has been, how can I put it politely, hijacked by my daddy. I have reminded him that the blog is Isaac’s view of life and he has admitted that he has overstepped the mark somewhat in letting everyone know what he’s been up to.Â
So, what have I been up to then … uhm. Think think think. Come on Isaac, you must have done something. Oh no, what am I doing with my life? Back to you daddy.
Thanks Isaac, go back to your room now.
Now, in addition to suggestions that I’ve been hijacking Isaac’s blog, I’ve also had a request for an update on the building project. Well, there isn’t too much more to show just yet but we are now felted in and ready to put the windows and back door in.Â

Dormer window from below. I did say there wasn’t much to see.
By the end of the week we should be water tight and then we can start to knock a few walls down. I even intend to get a bit more hands on myself (they could do with an experienced hand after all). One of my first tasks is to knock the old rendering off the existing front of the house in preparation for a new squeaky clean render just waiting to be painted pink. Isaac’s favourite colour you should know.
Oh, and just in case you’ve forgotten what Isaac looks like …

I was looking through my photographs the other day and saw this picture that I took a couple of years ago. For my friends stag weekend we went walking in the Welsh mountains on the Herefordshire border on a perfect spring day and I took this picture which I still think is the best picture that I’ve ever taken. I hope you enjoy it too. Of course with the dreadful weather that we’ve had recently I thought you might like to remind yourself what blue sky looks like.Â
Here are a couple of other pictures taken on the same walk.
Â

Needless to say, we got up to the usual stag weekend antics as well.

Greetings Jon, I hope you’re keeping well.

What a miserable day. Rain rain rain rain rain. What’s worse is that our boiler keeps packing up and the house is very cold cold cold. Not only have I been unable to go out on my scooter but the rain has slowed down the building work also. Nevertheless the roof frame is almost on and soon they’ll be able to start felting in. Then the real fun begins, knocking down walls. Where’s me mallet?
A couple of pictures to update you.
