Did you ever get that sinking feeling?
For the past few months the fishing lakes next to Marriotts Way in our village have been redeveloped which has involved cutting down and burning the dead wood and digging out the slurry that has gathered over the years at the bottom of the existing lake. All was going well until one of the diggers got a little too confident.
The diggers friends stood around laughing and watching in astonishment until one of them thought it might be a good idea if they tried to pull him out.
Only it wasn’t quite so easy as that. I don’t know whether they ever managed to pull the digger out. Presumably they did. However, if the digger is still sitting there at the bottom of the lake I would love to see the face of the fisherman in a few years time who thinks he’s caught a hump back whale.
