Nene Valley Railway

On Saturday, mummy, daddy and I got up really early in order to drive to Peterborough.  Mummy had to go to a tutorial so daddy took me on the Nene Valley Railway.  It just so happened to be the 30th Anniversary of the railway and to celebrate Thomas made a special appearance.  Unfortunately, I didn’t get to go on Thomas because he spent the entire morning having a wash.

I had my bags packed and prepared to get on board the steam train

Have I packed too much?

We did get to go on the Mayflower locomotive which was really noisy.  It kept blowing its whistle and shooting steam high up into the air.  Great to look at but don’t they know we’re experiencing a global catastrophe precisely due to such reckless emissions of CO2.

We spent the morning going up and down the line to the various stations.  When we reached Yarwell Station we saw lots of people parachuting out of the sky.

When Mummy came back we drove to Cambridge for the Strawberry Fair – unfortunately mummy and daddy didn’t like the loud music and it was so crowded that we left almost as soon as we arrived.  We headed into the more civilised part of Cambridge where I enjoyed a refined cup of Earl Grey.

We had a lovely day basking in the sunshine of the university.  This is Kings College, where I plan to study in a few years time.  I just can’t decide whether to read philosophy or the history of Thomas the Tank Engine.
