All in a short walk

Here are a couple of interesting pictures that I took today on my short walk to work.

Polish Grocery

Polish Grocery store opens today.  I particularly liked the plea to ‘Give us a Try’ which I thought could be interpreted in 2 ways, both from a commercial and a ethnological perspective.  Needless to say I popped my head around the door to offer them best wishes using all the Polish that I knew, ‘Lech Walesa’.

A little further on I passed Notre Dame High School and noticed on the gates that familiar tape that police use to cordon off an area to be investigated.  Being an inquisitive kind of a guy I sneaked a look around the gates and to my astonishment saw the following.

Death of Mr Chalk

Hopefully, given that I had not heard anything on the news, this was a school art project.  If so, I thought placing it next to the main road was a little insensitive to say the least, particularly for the other members of the chalk family.

To cheer me up following the shock of seeing such wanton disregard for school property, my good friend Mark reminded me of one of my favourite jokes which we heard Milton Jones tell when we were at Greenbelt.

My Dad’s always complaining about the price of drinks, 50p for a cup of tea, 75p for a coffee.  I mean, it’s not even as if he told me he was coming round.

Thanks Mark
